INTRODUCTION
[break][break]
SET ALL AROUND SLATEPORT CITY AND ITS BEACH, various obstacle courses and stadiums have been erected for the Pokeathlon. Pokeathletes and their Pokemon from all around the region and perhaps, around the globe, have come to Hoenn to participate in the region's first Pokeathlon games. For this momentous occasion, the Aqua Festival has been delayed for other years.[break][break][break]
Pokeathlon staff are stationed throughout the beach with clipboards. They sign teams up for various obstacle courses being run throughout the day.[break][break][break]
COURSE OVERVIEWS
BREAK THE TARGETS (ATK)
IN THIS COURSE, trainers must rush through an obstacle course of imposing physical barriers. Targets such as karate boards, walls of concrete, pillars of stone, and seemingly immovable immovable boulders are present for your Pokemon and your trainers to smash through. Trainers must work in tandem with their Pokemon to break these targets in order to reach the end of the course.[break][break]
For this course, it is advised that your Pokemon possess at least one
move that will raise their Attack.[break][break]
Pokeathletes signing up for this course are warned that this course is a little more dangerous than the others.[break][break]
[break][break][break]
SHOOTING RANGE (SP. ATK)
IN THIS COURSE, trainers are armed with water guns; however, Pokemon must rely upon their ranged attacks to strike targets (and enemy Pokemon) as if they were in a tactical shooting range.[break][break]
For this course, it is advised that your Pokemon possess at least one
move that will raise their Special Attack.[break][break]
Lastly, there are other possible impediments in their way. Trainers and their Pokemon must avoid being shot at by automized water guns, paint balls, and other Pokemon, for they could delay their clear speeds.[break][break][break]
[break][break][break]
RACE COURSE (SPD)
IN THIS COURSE, trainers and their pokemon must race to complete the course in record speeds. Various obstacles impede your path: hurdles, rock climbing walls, and floating platforms in Slateport's sea, etc.[break][break]
For this course, it is advised that your Pokemon possess at least one
move that will raise their Speed.[break][break]
Furthermore, it may be advised to have Pokemon you can mount for some portions of the course. However, trainers that are particularly athletic may be able to clear the course without resorting to Pokemon rides.[break][break][break]
[break][break][break]
KNOCK OFF (DEF/SP. DEF)
IN THIS COURSE, trainers and their Pokemon must clear a floating obstacle course held over an enclosed area of Slateport's sea. The obstacle course features a variety of obstacles that will attempt to toss both trainer and Pokemon off into the waters. For a real life example, think about
Takeshi's Castle (or it's Americanized version:
MXC), or
Wipeout.[break][break]
For this course, it is advised that your Pokemon possess at least one
move that will raise their Defense or one
move that will raise their Special Defense. By increasing your Pokemon's defenses they can better protect themselves (and you) against the obstacles poised to knock you away![break][break]
This course is unique because it allows defense and special defense stats; however, you
can not apply bonuses from both stats. In other words, you can not have +6 in DEF and +6 in SP. DEF to have a +120 to your rolls. You must
pick one single stat to focus on.[break][break]
[break][break][break]
HOW TO PLAY
IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE, please read the following instructions carefully.[break][break][break]
WHAT TO DO:
- find three other characters for a team of four (feel free to designate a team name)
- choose a course, create a thread in Slateport Beach and in its title, include the tag: (pkthn).
- tag your team's characters and begin posting.
- indicate what course you are on, bold moves used and if applicable, how much your stat has raised (to a maximum of 6) in your posts.
- keep track of the total of all of your rolls, and how many posts are in the thread so far.
- once your team has reached the course's target roll total, post in this thread with the link to your course thread, the tags of participating characters, the total roll amount and the total number of posts it took to reach that number. shiv will archive the thread afterward.
[break][break][break]
STAT MODIFIERS
Although Hoenn is a statless site, this event will lean into stat modifiers slightly. In Pokemon, stats can be raised a maximum of 6 times (+6). Moves such as
Swords Dance and
Agility can raise these stats.[break][break][break]
Every
+1 to a stat will add an
extra 10 to your rolls! For example, if your pokemon has a maximum of +6 to Attack, they can add an additional +60 to their rolls![break][break][break]
ADDITIONAL GUIDELINES
- maintain posting order.
- you can only use one move per post.
- please avoid one or two-liners; however, your posts do not need to be long at all!
- stat boosting moves begin to apply on the post you use them on (i.e. in your first post, if you use Agility to increase your speed by +1, you will add the +10 bonus to your first post's roll!).
- moves or abilities with a random stat-raising element such as acupressure or moody will only add +1 and can apply to the course's applicable stat.
- the move, Baton Pass, can be used to confer raised stats to an individual pokemon at the expense of losing all the stat modifiers on the pokemon using the move.
- moves that have only have a chance of raising your stat can automatically succeed in raising the stat in order to expand the options your pokemon can take.

HOW TO SPEND HEROIC MEDALS
WHEN YOU RECEIVE THESE MEDALS, spend them in the
heroic medal treasure trade thread![break][break][break]
LEADERBOARDS & RECORD TIMES
HOW TO GET ON THE LEADERBOARD
AS MENTIONED ABOVE, once you have completed your Pokeathlon thread, you must post in this thread with the number of posts it took for your sports team to get to the target roll number. The number of posts it takes for your sports team to reach the target roll number will be the representation of your team's time to complete the course.[break][break]
You will be able to knock out teams if you are able to complete the course faster than the ones placed in first, second, or third. Additionally, you can attempt the course over and over again if you are not satisfied by your team's clear time. Teams do not need to remain the same for reattempts.[break][break]
Special prizes await the teams who have been placed. Teams or characters will earn themselves
100 HEROIC MEDALS the first time they complete a course. Subsequent completions will reward
50 HEROIC MEDALS.[break][break][break]

HEROIC MEDALS FOR THOSE WHO HAVE PLACED

10 infamy.[break][break]
furthermore, each placement will grant you heroic medals:[break][break]
- FIRST PLACE - 750 heroic medals
- SECOND PLACE - 500 heroic medals
- THIRD PLACE - 250 heroic medals
[break][break]
if you have placed more than once in the leaderboard for a particular course,
you still redeem heroic medals from your other placements. in other words, if your character is in first, second and third place for the race course, you will redeem 250 + 500 + 750 = 1500 heroic medals!
